Halloween Themed Date Ideas in Toronto

It’s that time of the year. The air is getting crisp and cool. Pumpkins are adorning front porches. Netflix is showcasing the most popular slasher films. You guessed it, it’s Halloween season.

Halloween is a time when we get to celebrate the unknown. Some of us do that by dressing up and transforming ourselves into a new persona. Some prefer a frightening film and a bag of candy. You probably have your own favourite way to get in the spooky mood, but just in case you’re looking for a new and exciting way to celebrate the season, we’ve put together a list of the best Toronto based halloween events! Lucky for all of you ghouls, Halloween makes for a perfect date night setting. So get ready to cozy up to each other while you enjoy the frightening fun.

Spooky Screenings

One of the most timeless ways to celebrate Halloween is to watch a classic horror flick. The experience becomes even more unique when you get to watch your favourite film in a retro movie theatre! There are several vintage cinemas in Toronto that have been operating since the early 20th century, some are now over a hundred years old. Yeah… it’s safe to say that there is no spookier place to watch a horror film than a super old movie house. Check out Revue Cinema, Fox Theatre, and Paradise on Bloor for their Halloween movie schedules.

Here are a couple of our top picks for spooky screenings this fall. Follow the links for access to an exclusive date experience that we’ve planned just for these movie nights.

October 17, 2022: Thir13en Ghosts at Revue Cinema

October 29, 2022: The Shining at Fox Theatre

Candlelight Concerts

For a more romantic mood, you might consider attending a candlelight concert featuring haunting melodies. Fever Concerts are presenting an intimate evening of live music by Listeso String Quartet at Paradise Theatre. You can expect to hear classic theme songs from Halloween, Stranger Things and The Rocky Horror Picture Show.

October 26 & 31, 2022: For full details on this eerie evening, check out Candlelight Concerts: A Haunted Evening of Halloween Classics.

An Elevated Dining Experience

How would you like to dine against a candlelit backdrop and enjoy world class cuisine, while getting in the spooky mood? You can do just that at Chotto Matte, a Japanese Peruvian fusion restaurant in the Financial District. Chotto Matte will be offering a Day of the Dead themed menu with limited time cocktails and dishes. We recommend joining on October 29th for their Night of the Immortal Souls when the restaurant will be candlelit and offer late night dining.

Haunted Houses

If you want your date to jump in your arms after a scare, these are the events for you! There are many haunted house style experiences offered in the GTA, but some of the best for date night are the adult only events.

For a classic horror house, check out Martino’s Manor in Etobicoke for a night full of thrills. Martino’s Manor is so scary, only those 14+ may enter.

If you’re more into the Victorian séance vibe, you need to check out The Howland Inn Séance. This 18+ event is a once in a lifetime experience that will have you taking part in an authentic séance. If you’re feeling extra brave, get a ticket for the special Witching Hour Séance happening at 2:00 am. Get your tickets soon because it’s bound to sell out!

Haunted Walking Tour

A unique way to celebrate the spooky season is to take part in a haunted walking tour. These experiences happen in the evening and are led by experts who will share ghostly tales about some of Toronto’s most mysterious locations. The Haunted Walk offers tours in several Toronto neighbourhoods, check out their website for more details.

Happy haunting!
